Ashe County is THE place to go for a fresh cut Fraser Fir tree! Known for it's green needles, fresh scent, and strong branches, the Fraser Fir is the gold standard amongst Christmas Trees. It grows naturally only in the southern Appalachian mountains which is why a weekend trip to Ashe County is the perfect pre-Christmas getaway. Book a stay in one of our log cabins!
There are many choose and cut tree farms to visit, but we've got two suggestions for you!
If you like hubbub, other activities, live music and food trucks, definitely go to Frosty's! It feels like a Christmas festival. The workers do a great job of showing you wear to park, which tree lots are available to choose from, and helping you get the tree to your car. Don't forget to check out the barn for decor, ornaments and to get some hot chocolate!

If crowds aren't your thing and you'd prefer a quaint experience, check out our favorite tree farm, Does it have a name? We have no idea. This will be our third year visiting this gentleman's farm and it is perfect for us. It's just the owner, no one else. He sits quietly off to the side with a giant wad of chaw in his mouth as you peruse his lot. Once you've selected your perfect tree, he'll help you cut and wrap it for transport. Of course he'll ask in his perfect mountain drawl if you want any wreaths or garland to go along with it. We HIGHLY recommend.
